CHAPTER ONE

She walks into Yogurtland with her cell phone pressed to her ear and a scowl on her face. Behind the scowl, her vulnerability shines like a fucking nuclear explosion in a dark closet. Whoever she’s talking to has stripped her bare. I find myself wishing it were me who affected her that way. She’s digging inside her purse while balancing the phone between her shoulder and her ear; probably searching for money to get her frozen yogurt fix. What is it about frozen yogurt that makes us feel better? Maybe it reminds us of being kids, and how something as simple as a trip to the yogurt shop could turn a bad day into a great one. Whatever it is, I can see that she desperately needs some frozen yogurt. But with each passing moment that she’s unable to locate her money, I see the hope draining from her face. “I told you to stop calling me. I don’t care if your car is in the shop. I’m not picking you up!” She drops her purse and cell phone onto the checkered tile floor and curses loudly. “What the fuck are you staring at?!” she barks at the man who’s ogling her ass while ushering his small child out of the shop. “You’ve never seen a girl in a skirt bend over?” She falls to her knees as she reaches for the cell phone first. She presses it to her ear and says hello a few times before she realizes there’s no one there. I walk over to her, coolly taking my time, then I kneel next to her and reach for the lipstick tube that rolled behind her left foot. I hold it out in front of her. She looks sideways at me and her mouth drops as she’s stunned into silence. Most girls are stunned when they see me. I’m used to that. But Senia has seen me plenty of times. She’s not amazed by my good looks. She’s stupefied by my impeccable timing. Her gaze immediately falls to my lips, which are just inches from her own. Then she begins to sob as she throws her arms around my neck. I can’t help but chuckle. “Hey, it’s okay,” I whisper into her ear as I breathe in her scent. She smells like strawberries or pineapple. Something fruity. It’s intoxicating. I reach up and grab her face to pull her away, so I can look her in the eye. “What flavor do you want?”

Review: Wilde Nights in Paradise by Tonya Burrows

When Libby Pruitt gets a stalker, her dad hires the only man he trusts with her safety, Jude Wilde. The problem? Jude Wilde shattered Libby’s heart eight years ago. Now they have to hide out with each other until her stalker is caught.

Jude and Libby both still love each other. The problem is whether or not they can work through past hurts to find each other again. Meanwhile, Jude has to keep Libby alive.

Jude and Libby’s chemistry is explosive. Their history only makes it more explosive. There’s not much tension from the stalker. I would have liked the tension to have been ratcheted up a bit more. I like lots of tension in my books.

The ending was pretty good. I liked how the stalker was revealed. It wasn’t who I expected. I suspected someone else, so I was surprised with that reveal.

The resolution between Jude and Libby was good. Jude finally got some closure to his long harbored secret. Libby finally found out what happened eight years ago. The boy got the girl. I like HEA’s.

Bio:
I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and am married to a guy 15 inches taller than me. We're quite the pair! We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats. I've been reading since I was a kid. My mom was a librarian, so it was a given. Heck, she even made sure we watched Wishbone instead of the Smurfs. In 2011 when I graduated from college, my mom bought me a Nook, and then in the summer of 2012 I found this amazing site called Goodreads. I was introduced to so many amazing indie/self-published authors. After reading almost 400 books that year, my husband gave me the push to finally sit down and write my own. It was a rocky start, but over time the words started flowing and I couldn't get Jace and Lexi out of my head. If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter. I LOVE to hear from readers, so please feel free to contact via any social media site listed below.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: His Ever After by Jessica Ingro

All is fair in love and war.

Jacob Matthews learned that lesson the hard way when he discovered just how far some people will go to win someone’s heart.

When fate brought Samantha Monroe back into Jacob’s life, he finally started to believe that his world was going to be complete. He loves Sam with the kind of intensity that burns deep and scalds your very soul. But fate had other ideas in mind, forcing him into a life filled with cold touches, long silences and complete misery.

Brooke Dugan had to have Jacob Matthews. It didn’t matter that he was in love with someone else, she always got what she wanted. And what she wanted was Jacob. Brooke vowed that she would stop at nothing until Jacob was tied to her forever… in both life and death.

Find out what happens when lies are revealed and the bitter truth comes out. Hearts will be broken and bonds will be tested.

Everyone is worthy of love – even Jacob, but can he find his happily ever after?

I could not put this book down. I had been anxiously awaiting its release and let me tell you it did not meet my expectations; it surpassed it.  Jessica Ingro nailed it with His Ever After. She knows how to pull your emotions and make you fall in love with characters you shouldn’t love, and make you want to read more and more about their story.

Jacob, you broke my heart over and over. When you saw the picture of Sam’s baby I immediately began to cry because I knew how much you wished for the baby to be yours. What Brooke did to you was unimaginable and if I could have wrapped my hands around that bitch’s neck and choked the shit out of her I would have. To go through what you did, no wonder for a while you acted the way you did, even if your actions hurt others who care about you. Were you completely innocent in everything that happened?  Hell no! Did you deserve what you went through? No. You. Did. Not. Jacob was a man who made mistakes and those mistakes cost him dearly, they cost him the love of his life, Sam.

“I held a precious, beautiful butterfly in my hands but let it get away.”

Brooke you are one conniving psycho bitch and I have no words to describe what I thought about what you put not only Jacob and Sam through but Kara as well. You were a selfish bitch who ruined the lives of many just to get what you wanted.

Kara, sweet Kara. I loved how she was shy but still had one hell of a backbone. She truly loves Jacob, he is her one and only and when he hurts her I cried because I knew she was what Jacob needed to heal. I love how she wouldn’t take Jacob’s shit but knew when to back off as well. She was exactly who Jacob needed to be with, she is perfect for him, even more perfect than Sam. Kara loves Jacob and only wants him to love her back.

When Jacob and Kara finally overcome everything that has happened and are able to open their hearts to one another, it is a beautiful thing. These two deserve to be each other’s happiness and Jacob deserves his ever after with someone who truly loves him and who he truly loves as well.

“Some people only get a once upon a time. Jacob is giving me his ever after.”

When I started this I wasn’t sure how I felt about Jacob being with anyone but Sam. The connection they shared in Love Squared was off the charts. They had chemistry, both in and out of bed, and loved each other. Had people not plotted against them, I truly believe they could have had a happy relationship. I quickly changed my mind though once I got further into the book. Normally I feel the most emotions for the female character in the book but this time my heart broke over and over again for Jacob and everything he was going through.

I didn’t expect to love Jacob’s story more than I loved Sam’s, but I did! I can’t even tell you the number of times that tears came to my eyes reading what Jacob was going through and feeling, I connected with him that much.  Please if you haven’t read Love Squared yet, go pick it up and then immediately read His Ever After. I promise you, this is one that you will want to read ASAP.

Excerpt:

“Where is everyone?” I call out as I walk from the kitchen through the living room, finding no little munchkins in there.

“Helloooooo!” Still no noise.

“You can’t hide from me! I’m going to find you!” I continue taunting them as I make my way down the hall. I can hear little giggles coming from behind Grace’s closed door.

“Shhh! I don’t want him to find us!” Grace whisper-shouts at her sister.

“I am being quiet! You’re the one laughing!” Candace tries to quietly argue back.

“No, you’re not!” Grace states loudly back to Candace this time. I bite my lip to hold back my own laughter. I pause outside the bedroom door and quietly put my hand on the doorknob.

“Ready or not! I’m going to get you!” I yell, as I bust through the door. Grace shrieks and runs to the left, while Candace attempts to scramble on the floor to the right.

I grab Candace, while dashing across the room for Grace. We all fall onto the bed laughing. Stuffed bears and Barbie dolls go flying everywhere as we roll around on the bed, their little legs and arms flailing around. The girls struggle to get away while I tickle them as best I can, considering all the squirming they’re doing.

“Stop! Stop! I’m going to pee my pants, Uncle Jacob!” Grace shouts breathlessly and pulls on my hand. And that right there is my cue to stop what I’m doing. I so do not need to take a bath in urine.

Grace runs out into the hall and slams the bathroom door behind her. Candace leans into me and wraps her arms around my waist. I kiss her hair and look over at Kara, who is sitting in a tiny chair in front of a table, set up for a tea party and littered with makeup. She has a wide smile on her face and she’s wiping the tears caused by her laughter.

“You’re so good with them,” she says, looking as though she is thoroughly impressed with my interactions with the girls.

“It’s nothing really. I mean, look how great they are. It’s easy to spend time with them.” I rub Candace’s back, while her head rests on my chest.

“It isn’t nothing. Not many men would get right in and play with them like you do.” She looks out the window muttering, “It’s actually pretty damn sexy.” The last part she said so quietly, I almost didn’t hear her. Well then… Kara thinks I’m sexy. I can feel my ego swelling from her words.

“Hmmm… well that’s good to know.” I wink at her and head over to the table to see what craziness they have going on. It’s not at all because I have the sudden urge to be closer to Kara. Definitely not.

“You want to play tea party with us, Uncle Jacob?” Candace asks and then sits down in the chair across from mine.

“Sure. I can always go for a nice cup of tea with a couple beautiful girls.”

Grace comes barreling in like her hair is on fire. “Don’t start without me!” She shouts at us.

I put my arm out to stop her from running into the table and lower her into the chair next to me.

Candace sets the white and pink cups with saucers in front of each of us while Grace prepares the “tea” in her pink pot. She pours us each a cup and we pick them up and pretend to sip our tea.

“This is the best tea I’ve ever had,” Kara says in between sips.

“I agree.” I pick up a plastic cookie and pretend to chew. “And these cookies are even better. Did you make them yourself?”

“Noooooo! Momma made those!” Grace laughs and picks up her own cookie, looking at me like I’m crazy for even asking the question.

We continue playing tea for a while before the girls turn their attention to the makeup Kara had gotten out for them earlier. I’m beginning to feel hive-ish watching them pick up the different tubes and jars. I have a feeling I know what’s going to happen if I stay in here much longer. Don’t get me wrong, there have been times where I’ve worn a feather boa or had some sort of necklace or bracelet dangling from my body. I’ve even played Barbies with my nieces. I mean – I pretended Ken was a secret spy while doing so, because if I’m going to be forced to play with dolls, they better be as cool as James Bond. But never – and I mean never – have I worn makeup and I really don’t want to start now. There are some streaks that are meant to not be broken.

“I think I’m going to head down to the man cave and see what your dad is up to,” I say while making my move towards the door.

“No!” Grace shouts and starts to push me down by my shoulder. “I want you to play dress up with us. Please!”

“Yeah. We hardly ever get to see you anymore. You can’t leave us to go watch TV with Daddy,” Candace adds in with a cute, little pout on her face.

And that’s how I find myself – hook, line and sinker – wearing eye shadow and having glitter dusted on my face. The amount of fun the girls are having is well worth it. The smiles and laughs are priceless in my opinion. As long as it doesn’t leave these four walls, my rep will still be intact.

“So, how do I look? Hot, right?” The girls just smile big and nod politely. “Maybe you guys should give me a mirror to look at and see for myself.” I reach for the mirror across the table, but Kara gets there before me.

“You have a little smudge, let me just…” Kara trails off while her thumb swipes my temple where I must have eye shadow smeared. Her hand rests on the side of my face, while she gently moves her thumb back and forth. Her eyes look over into mine and you can hear her sharp intake of breath. For several seconds we do nothing but stare at each other. Her blue eyes are like looking up into a bright, cloudless sky. I watch in fascination, as her pupils slowly dilate and fill with desire. Her pink tongue darts out and wets her lips. Without my consent, my body starts leaning towards her. She’s pulling me into her, like a moth being drawn to a flame. Just as I’m about to cover her mouth with my own, Grace and Candace start arguing, effectively breaking the moment. Kara pulls away quickly, stating rather weakly that she needs to make a call before leaving the room.

Shit. What the hell was I about to do? I can still feel the breath from her mouth on mine and her damn blue eyes are burned in my brain. This is not good whatsoever. Haven’t I learned anything from all the shit that’s happened this last year? Keep your tongue in your mouth and your dick in your pants. I just need to keep reminding myself that.

Breakfast flew by.  Caston stood up to leave and I felt sad, as if a piece of me was leaving.  Standing in front of him, I straightened his suit coat; feeling very brazen I took his lapels in my hands, pulling him close to me.  He put his hands on my hips, under my shirt.  His thumbs edge their way to touch my skin.  It jumped at his touch.

“Be good today.  I will leave an iPad for you to use.”  He leaned forward and kissed my forehead.  I sighed, and looked up at him timidly through my eyelashes.

“Yes, Caston,” I responded angelically.  My mind was begging him to kiss me.  Please, God, kiss me.

“I could get used to this,” Caston replied, staring into my hazel eyes, while brushing my sides with his thumbs.

He was barely a hair’s breadth away from my mouth now.  He enveloped my mouth, and his tongue parted my lips, hungrily seeking mine.  I allowed him entrance, and my knees buckled.  He caught me, pressing me to his body.  One hand stayed on my back, while the other skimmed up my back and tangled in my hair.  Intertwining his hand in my hair, he pulled my head back, starting to kiss the sides of my mouth down to my neck.  My mind went absolutely blank, and I felt my insides clenching.  Just as suddenly as he started kissing me, he pulled away.  Breathless, I leaned up against the table.  Holy shit!  Did that just happen?

I am a mommy of two, wife to an amazing man, and full time employee. Life is crazy and my love for reading had fizzled over the years but thanks to a wonderful group of ladies that I met last year I started reading again. Their love for books turned me on to many great writers who I would have never discovered if I hadn't started reading again!

I started writing for them. They brought out my love for writing that I haven’t seen in years. Starting this process was tedious and nerve wrecking, but my lovely ladies and my fabulous husband have inspired me to take my love for writing to the next step.
